Web Game Development in Nigeria
HTML5 and browser games for Nigerian founders and brands — casual games, multiplayer worlds and campaign games that play instantly from a link
After Lagos Run and Lagos Life, browser games are the fastest way to reach Nigerian players. We build them.
Why Browser Games Are Winning in Nigeria
In two weeks in late 2026, two Nigerian browser games did what years of app-store games struggled to do. Lagos Run, a danfo-driving game, drew tens of thousands of players within days. Lagos Life, a shared life-sim, passed 4.3 million players in its first week, with more than 200,000 online at once.
Neither needed an app store. Players tapped a link on WhatsApp or X and were playing seconds later — no download, no storage warning, no account before the fun starts. With around 87% of African gamers playing on smartphones and only about 3.5% of Nigerians holding a credit card, that frictionless link is the whole distribution strategy.
The market behind it is real. Nigeria has more than 46 million active gamers, growing about 12% a year, according to figures cited by WeeTracker, and gaming revenue in the country rose from about $11 million in 2019 to more than $60 million in 2024, according to figures reported by Malay Mail. For founders and brands across Nigeria, a well-made browser game is now one of the fastest ways to reach millions of people.

What We Bring — and What We Don't Pretend
Musskart Technology Limited is a Nigerian software development company founded in 2020, with more than 250 projects delivered for clients across Nigeria and abroad. We are not a traditional games studio with a back catalogue of titles, and we will not pretend otherwise. What we bring is the engineering that decides whether a viral game survives its viral week:
- Real-time systems and scale — WebSocket servers, rooms and zones, caching, auto-scaling and load testing before launch.
- Wallets and payments — the same Paystack and Flutterwave wallets, ledgers and reconciliation we build for VTU and fintech platforms.
- Admin and live operations — dashboards to moderate players, tune the economy, approve ads and see what is happening right now.
- Security and anti-abuse — server-side validation, rate limits and bot detection.
- Performance on Nigerian phones — built and tested on mid-range Android devices on mobile data.
Art and sound can come from your own designers, licensed asset packs or illustrators commissioned for your game; we will scope whichever fits your budget.
Our Web Game Technology
- 2D games — Phaser or PixiJS with TypeScript: small downloads and smooth on budget phones.
- 3D games — Three.js or Babylon.js, kept light enough for mobile data.
- Multiplayer — Colyseus, Nakama or custom Node.js services over WebSockets, with PostgreSQL and Redis behind them.
- Progressive web app — service workers for offline play and fast loading, and home-screen install without an app store.
- Payments — Paystack and Flutterwave for cards, bank transfer and USSD.
- Full engines when needed — Unity or Godot web exports for complex games, used sparingly because large downloads cost players data.

Live operations after launch — monitoring, updates, events and moderation — are quoted as a monthly retainer (see app maintenance and support).
How We Build Your Game
1. Concept and core loop
A workshop to agree the one thing players do again and again, why they will share it and how the game makes money.
2. Prototype on real phones
A rough, playable version on mid-range Android phones, so we judge the fun early and cheaply.
3. Playtest and decide
A small test group plays it. We measure shares and return visits, and tell you honestly whether to continue, change course or stop.
4. Production
Art, sound, progression, servers, payments and admin tools, built in weekly sprints you can play.
5. Load test and launch
We simulate the spike, secure one official domain, prepare anti-phishing messages and watch the launch live.
6. Live operations
Updates, events, economy tuning and moderation on a monthly retainer, if you want it.
Payment is staged by milestone, and when the final invoice is settled you own the source code and the art created for your game.
Working With Founders and Brands Across Nigeria
Most of the founders and brands behind this new wave of games are in Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt, and many of the developers behind them work from abroad. Game projects suit remote collaboration well: workshops run on video, playtests happen on players' own phones, and every build is shared as a link.
