Your Courses Deserve Their Own Platform

Nigeria's training market is now a serious business. Coaches sell six-figure cohorts, tech academies run 300-person bootcamps, professional institutes push continuing-education modules to thousands of members, and corporate HR teams need onboarding and compliance training they can prove was completed. Almost all of them start on a hosted tool — a Selar link, a Teachable site, a WhatsApp group pointing at Google Drive — and almost all of them hit the same wall.

The wall looks like this: the platform takes a slice of every sale, the branding is not really yours, you cannot run a proper cohort with drip-fed modules and deadlines, corporate clients want seat licences and completion reports you cannot produce, instructors want a transparent revenue split, and nobody can verify the certificates you issue. At that point renting stops being cheap.

Musskart Technology Limited builds the alternative: a learning management system you own outright, on your own domain, with your own branding, payment accounts and data. We are a registered Nigerian software company with 250+ delivered projects since 2020, building in Laravel, React, Node and Flutter. Below: the modules, the video engineering, the payment plumbing, the certificate logic, the cost in Naira, the timeline — and the honest cases where you should not build yet.

Who We Build E-Learning Platforms For

The architecture changes depending on who is paying and who is learning. These are the buyers we build for most often.

Course creators & coaches

You sell courses already and you are tired of paying a percentage of every sale on someone else's domain. You want your own checkout, your own email list, your own app icon on a learner's phone.

Training institutes & academies

Bootcamps, skill academies and CPD providers running cohorts with intakes, deadlines, live sessions and assignments. You need attendance, grading and certificates — not a video library behind a paywall.

Corporate L&D and HR teams

Onboarding, compliance and safety training across branches: departments, mandatory courses with due dates, reminders, pass marks, and a dashboard showing management who completed what, and when.

Professional bodies & associations

Membership-linked learning where members earn credit points, renew annually and need a verifiable record — tied to a member register, subscription billing and a public verification page.

Schools, colleges & faculties

Blended learning beside your existing records system: lessons, assignments, tests and parent-visible progress. Often paired with a school management system so results and fees stay in one place.

Training companies going white-label

Each corporate client wants their own branded portal. That is a multi-tenant build: one codebase, many isolated tenants, each with its own logo, domain, courses and admins — billed per seat or per client.

What Goes Into a Musskart LMS Build

This is the menu we work from. Pick what you need now; we architect so the rest can be added later without a rewrite.

Build Your Own, or Stay on a Hosted Tool?

We would rather talk you out of a bad build than take the money. Here is the honest split.

The simplest test is arithmetic. Add up what a hosted platform takes from you in a year — subscription plus its cut of every sale — and compare that to a one-off build plus modest hosting. Then add what you cannot do at all today: corporate contracts lost because you cannot issue seat licences, cohorts you cannot run properly, certificates nobody can verify. Past roughly ₦1M in annual course revenue, ownership usually wins on the numbers alone — and your learner list, payment accounts and content sit in infrastructure you control, not on a platform that can change its fees or terms without asking you.

Video, Bandwidth and Nigerian Networks

Video is where most e-learning platforms fail, and it is rarely a coding problem — it is an engineering and budgeting problem. Serve a 45-minute phone-recorded lecture raw to a learner on mobile data and you get buffering, complaints and refund requests.

So we transcode every upload into multiple renditions, stream with adaptive bitrate so playback steps down in quality rather than stalling, sign playback URLs so a link cannot be pasted into a WhatsApp group, and save progress so learners resume exactly where they stopped. The mobile app adds encrypted offline download — lessons cached on the device, playable without data, unusable outside your app. We also cost the bandwidth before you sign, because it is normally the biggest recurring line item and it scales with watch time, not signups.

Getting Paid: Naira Billing That Fits How Nigerians Buy

Course pricing in Nigeria is rarely a single button. We build the billing model around how your buyers actually pay.

One-off sales, bundles and instalments

Paystack and Flutterwave checkout covers cards, bank transfer and USSD, so a learner without a working card can still pay. A ₦250,000 bootcamp sells far better in three parts, so we build instalment plans that unlock modules as each payment clears, with reminders and a clean revoke path.

Subscriptions and corporate invoicing

Recurring library access with grace periods, dunning when a card fails, upgrades and cancellations — plus the corporate path: quotes, proforma invoices, bank-transfer confirmation, bulk seat allocation and consolidated completion reports for HR.

Instructor revenue splits

Hosting other people's courses means every sale needs an auditable split: platform share, instructor share, refunds and a payout ledger with statements — a ledger, not a spreadsheet, so it always reconciles.

Processor fees change, so we do not quote them here as fact — check the current published rates on Paystack or Flutterwave and we will build your pricing logic around whichever you choose.

Certificates, Accreditation and Learner Data

Two things get confused constantly, so let us be blunt about both.

We build the technology. You hold the accreditation.

Musskart is a software development company. We build the certificate engine, the certificate register and the verification page — but we are not an accrediting body, a licensor or a regulator, and a certificate issued by your platform carries your authority, not ours. Where formal recognition is required it comes from the appropriate body: the National Universities Commission (NUC) for degree programmes, the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) for polytechnic and technical programmes, your own professional institute for CPD credit, or the relevant ministry or examination council. Obtaining that approval is yours; building the platform is ours.

On data: an LMS stores names, emails, phone numbers, payment references and performance records — personal data under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, administered by the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC). We build for that: consent capture at signup, role-based access to learner records, encryption in transit, password hashing, audit logs, retention rules and a clean export-and-delete path. The compliance obligations sit with you as the data controller; our job is to make meeting them practical.

If your programme involves formal examinations rather than course assessments — proctoring, secure question banks, exam-hall deployment — that is a different animal, covered on our CBT exam software development page.

What an E-Learning Platform Costs in Nigeria

Real numbers, in Naira, based on the builds we actually deliver. Your final quote is fixed after a discovery call — we do not run open-ended hourly billing on a defined scope.

Starter Course Platform

₦1.5M – ₦3M

Courses and lessons, video hosting, quizzes, certificates, learner dashboard, Paystack checkout, coupons, admin panel and core analytics. Web only.

Best for: creators and small academies leaving a hosted tool.

Growth LMS

₦3.5M – ₦7M

Everything above plus cohorts and drip content, live classes, assignments and marking, instructor accounts with revenue splits, subscriptions and instalments, a mobile app and full reporting.

Best for: bootcamps, institutes and multi-instructor academies.

Enterprise / White-Label

₦8M – ₦15M

Multi-tenant architecture with per-client branding and domains, seat licensing, SSO, SCORM or xAPI, corporate invoicing, advanced compliance reporting, API access and integration with your existing systems.

Best for: training companies, corporates and professional bodies.

What actually moves the price

  • Live classes — a Zoom or Meet integration is modest; your own WebRTC classroom with recording is not.
  • Mobile app — design, build, store submission and maintenance across two platforms.
  • Multi-tenancy — tenant isolation, custom domains and per-tenant billing are an architectural step up.
  • SCORM / xAPI — standards compliance and a learning record store are specialist work.
  • Integrations — HR systems, member registers, accounting software or a student database.
  • Content migration — moving hundreds of lessons, learners and past results across cleanly.

Running costs after launch

Budget separately for hosting and database, video storage and streaming bandwidth (usually the largest line, driven by watch time), transactional email and SMS, domain and SSL, app store developer accounts if you ship mobile, and an optional maintenance retainer. We put real monthly figures against your expected learner numbers before you commit — see the wider picture on our full pricing page.

Timeline and How We Work

A launchable first version typically takes six to ten weeks; live classes, a mobile app and multi-tenancy add four to eight weeks. We ship every two weeks and you test as we go.

Weeks 1–2 — Discovery and content model

We map your programmes, decide how courses, cohorts and enrolments relate, agree the pricing model, and produce wireframes plus a fixed scope at a fixed price. This is where most of the money is saved.

Weeks 3–5 — Core platform

Authentication and roles, the course builder, the video pipeline, learner dashboard, progress tracking and admin panel. By the end of this stage you can upload a real course and click through it.

Weeks 5–7 — Assessment, payments and certificates

Quizzes and marking, the gradebook, Paystack and Flutterwave checkout, coupons and instalments, certificate generation and the verification page. Live classes and cohorts land here if in scope.

Weeks 7–9 — Mobile app and reporting

The Flutter app for Android and iOS if included, push notifications, offline lessons, plus the analytics and export reports your corporate clients will ask for.

Weeks 9–10 — Testing, content loading and handover

Load testing against your expected concurrent learners, a security review, real content loaded with your team, admin and instructor training, then go-live with a warranty period.

Where an LMS Fits Beside Your Other Systems

Learning platforms rarely live alone, and building the wrong piece first is an expensive mistake. Here is how we separate them.

Formal examinations → exam software, not an LMS

Secure computer-based testing with proctoring, exam-hall deployment, offline-capable clients and locked question banks is exam software, not course software. See CBT exam software development in Nigeria.

Admissions, registration and results → a portal

Course registration, semester results, transcripts, fee payment and staff records belong in a student information portal. See university portal development in Nigeria, which we often integrate with an LMS over an API.

Primary and secondary schools → a management system

Attendance, report cards, fees, timetables and parent communication for a K–12 school are a different product. See school management software in Nigeria — we can bolt e-learning onto it later.

Not sure which one you need? That is exactly the conversation we have on the discovery call, and it costs you nothing.

Frequently Asked Questions

A focused course platform with modules, video lessons, quizzes, certificates and Paystack checkout typically starts around ₦1.5M to ₦3M. A growth build that adds live classes, cohorts, instructor revenue splits, a mobile app and richer analytics usually lands between ₦3.5M and ₦7M. A multi-tenant, white-label LMS for a training company selling to corporate clients, with single sign-on, SCORM support and deep reporting, runs from ₦8M to ₦15M. Send us your feature list on WhatsApp and we will come back with a fixed quote and a payment schedule.

A first launchable version usually takes six to ten weeks: about two weeks for discovery, wireframes and the content model, four to six weeks of build, then one to two weeks of testing, content loading and admin training. Live classes, a mobile app and multi-tenant white-labelling add another four to eight weeks. We work in two-week sprints, so you can log into a working platform and start uploading courses long before the final week.

If you are testing a single course with a small audience, a hosted tool is the cheaper start and we will tell you so honestly. Build your own when the platform is the business: when you need your own brand and domain on a mobile app, when per-sale platform fees are eating a real margin, when you need cohorts, corporate seat licences, instructor payout splits or a verifiable certificate register, or when you are reselling training to companies under a white-label brand. Most of our clients come to us after outgrowing a hosted tool, not before.

Yes. We integrate Paystack and Flutterwave so learners can pay in Naira by card, bank transfer or USSD, and we can add one-off course purchases, subscriptions, bundles, coupon codes, corporate invoicing and instalment plans that unlock modules as each payment clears. Where you share revenue with instructors, we build the split and payout ledger so every disbursement is recorded and reconcilable. Confirm the current processor rates directly with Paystack or Flutterwave before you set your course prices.

The platform can generate a branded PDF certificate automatically when a learner passes, each carrying a unique certificate ID and a public verification page an employer can check. Accreditation is a separate matter. Musskart builds the technology; any accreditation, approval or licence comes from the relevant body — the National Universities Commission for degree programmes, the National Board for Technical Education for polytechnic programmes, or your own professional institute. We are a software company, not an accrediting or certifying authority.

Yes, if it is engineered for it. We use adaptive bitrate streaming so a lesson steps down in quality instead of buffering, transcode and compress every upload, host video with a provider that serves Nigerian traffic well, and add resume-where-you-stopped playback. In the mobile app we can add secure offline download so learners study without burning data. We also budget video bandwidth honestly up front, because streaming is normally the largest recurring cost of running an e-learning platform.
