Who This Page Is For

You run exams, and paper is failing you. Perhaps you own an accredited CBT centre that sits idle between national exam windows because you have no software of your own. Perhaps you run a post-UTME unit still marking by optical sheet, a professional institute tired of printing and guarding question papers, a recruiter who needs a defensible way to shortlist, or a training institute whose certification test leaks after the first cohort.

Each is the same technical problem: a standalone CBT and e-assessment platform that owns the item bank, gives every candidate a different paper, survives a power cut mid-session, proves who actually sat the exam, and publishes results the minute the window closes. Musskart Technology Limited builds exactly that as a system you own, not a per-candidate subscription you rent forever.

We reply on WhatsApp within minutes. Tell us your candidate numbers, hall size and exam dates and we will say the same day whether this is a ₦600,000 build or a ₦9 million build.

Exam-Hall Mode, No Internet Needed

A Dedicated Assessment Engine, Not an Admin Add-On

Most institutions first meet computer-based testing as a checkbox feature inside a bigger administrative product, and it disappoints: no real randomisation, a timer that lives in the browser and resets on reboot, no way to run a hall with the internet down, and no audit trail when a candidate disputes a mark. That is a records system with a quiz bolted on, not an examination system.

What we build is a purpose-built engine whose only job is to hold questions securely, deliver them fairly, invigilate the sitting and produce results that stand up to challenge. It runs on its own database and connects to whatever else you use through an API.

If what you need is student records, attendance, fees and parent communication, that is a different product, covered on our school administration software page. For lecture delivery, course video and certificates, read e-learning and LMS platform development. For admissions, course registration and fee portals, see university portal development. All three sit beside this exam engine, and we integrate them so people log in once.

Who Buys a CBT Platform in Nigeria

Five buyers make up almost all the demand we see, and each stresses a different part of the system.

Accredited CBT centres

You have the hall, the workstations, the inverter and accreditation from the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board — but no software of your own, so the hall earns nothing between national exam windows. Your own platform lets you sell mock sittings, hire the hall to professional bodies and recruiters, and run practice tests for nearby schools on hardware already paid for.

Post-UTME and screening units

Thousands of candidates across a few days, several halls at once, and a result that must be published fast and defended later. You need scheduling by session, per-hall monitoring, automatic marking and an export your admissions office can use immediately.

Professional and regulatory bodies

Institutes examining their own members in accountancy, nursing, engineering or estate management need a governed item bank, examiner and moderator roles, sittings in several states on one day, and a remark and appeal process with an audit trail behind every score.

Recruiters and HR teams

Aptitude and job-knowledge tests sent to a large applicant pool by link or access code, sat remotely with webcam proctoring or in a hired hall, marked instantly and ranked by percentile. Promotion and competency tests for existing staff run the same way.

Training institutes and academies

Certification tests where the certificate means something: item banks large enough that no two candidates see the same paper, pass marks, retake rules and a verifiable certificate carrying a unique ID.

What Musskart Builds Into Your CBT Platform

Every platform we deliver is assembled from the modules below. Switch on what you need now; the architecture leaves room for the rest without a rebuild.

Examination Integrity, Layer by Layer

No single control stops malpractice. What works is ordinary controls stacked so that defeating one achieves nothing.

1. Identity at the door

Photo or fingerprint check against the registration record, a QR-coded examination slip, and a seat the candidate cannot choose. Impersonation is the commonest form of malpractice, and it is a check-in problem before it is a software problem.

2. A different paper for every candidate

Blueprint-driven selection from a bank several times larger than the paper, plus question and option shuffling. If the bank holds 2,000 items and the paper is 60, copying from the next screen is wasted effort.

3. A locked-down hall you can see

Full-screen kiosk mode with shortcuts, printing and clipboard disabled, and one console showing every candidate: progress, time remaining, connection state and flags raised. Invigilators can pause, extend, reset a login or terminate a session, and each intervention is attributed to the officer who made it.

Accreditation, Regulation and Data Protection — Plainly Stated

Musskart is a Nigerian software development company. We build examination technology; we do not accredit, licence or certify anybody, and we never present ourselves as an examination body.

Centre accreditation. Accreditation of a CBT centre for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination is granted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) against its own published facility, power, network, security and staffing requirements. We can make the technology in your centre sound and well documented, but we cannot obtain, guarantee or accelerate that accreditation.

Professional examinations. Where a qualifying examination belongs to a body such as the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) or the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN), that body owns the syllabus, the standard and the certificate. Our platform is the delivery mechanism it chooses; it confers no qualification of its own.

Personal data. Candidate photographs, fingerprints and webcam recordings are personal data, and biometric identifiers count as sensitive personal data under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, regulated by the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC). We build accordingly: consent at registration, a stated retention period after which proctoring media is purged, encryption in transit and at rest, role-based access to biometric records, and export and deletion tools. Registering as a data controller and appointing a data protection officer where the Act requires it remains your responsibility as the institution.

What CBT Software Costs in Nigeria

These are the Naira ranges we quote for a custom build you own outright. What moves a quote: halls and sites, peak concurrent candidates, whether biometrics and remote proctoring are included, item-bank migration, and integrations.

Centre Starter

₦300,000 – ₦900,000

One hall, one site. Item bank, randomised papers, server-held timing, candidate login, offline LAN mode, auto-marking, result slips and an admin dashboard. About four to six weeks.

Centre Pro

₦900,000 – ₦2,000,000

Multiple halls and sessions, biometric or photo check-in, candidate self-registration with Paystack or Flutterwave payment, practice-test mode, section rules, item analysis, notifications and exam-day support.

Exam Body / Enterprise

₦3,000,000 – ₦15,000,000

Multi-site assessment across states. Governed item bank with author, reviewer and moderator roles, essay marking, remark and appeal handling, remote proctoring, deep integrations and load testing at peak concurrency.

Builds landing between ₦2 million and ₦3 million are usually a centre needing two or three enterprise features — governed item-bank roles, essay moderation — without the national footprint. We scope those honestly rather than pushing you up a tier.

Budget separately for running costs, which are yours and not paid to us: hosting, SMS or WhatsApp credits, gateway fees on candidate registrations, storage for proctoring video, and local server hardware and inverter capacity for the hall. A support retainer covering updates and exam-day standby is optional. See our full pricing for every Musskart build tier, or contact us for a written quote against your exam calendar.

How Long It Takes, and How We Work

We work in two-week sprints with a demo at the end of each, so you watch the exam engine grow instead of waiting for a launch date.

Week 1 — Discovery and exam blueprint

We sit with your examinations officer and write down the rules that govern your papers: question types, section structure, timing, marking scheme, pass marks, who approves a result and what the audit requirements are. We survey the hall too — workstations, network, power backup — because that decides the deployment.

Weeks 2–4 — Item bank and exam engine

Question authoring, bulk import of your existing questions, blueprint-driven paper generation, the candidate interface, server-held timing and auto-marking. By the end of this stage you can create and sit a real paper.

Weeks 4–6 — Hall deployment and pilot sitting

We install the local exam server, image the workstations, test the LAN under load and run a supervised pilot with real candidates — including a deliberate power cut, so you watch the resume behaviour before it matters.

Weeks 6–8 — Portal, proctoring and go-live

Candidate registration and payment, invigilator console, biometrics where included, reports and exports, training for your officers, then go-live with a Musskart engineer on standby for your first live examination.

Weeks 8–20 — Exam-body scale-up

Enterprise builds add item-bank governance, multi-site scheduling, essay moderation, remark and appeal workflows, integrations, penetration testing and load testing at your true peak. Anyone promising a national assessment platform in three weeks has not run one.

The Stack We Build On

We pick boring, well-supported technology your own developers can take over later, and we hand across the source code.

Laravel / PHP Node.js React & Vue admin dashboards Flutter candidate app PostgreSQL / MySQL Redis session & timer store Local LAN exam server Electron kiosk client Offline sync engine Fingerprint SDK integration WebRTC remote proctoring Paystack Flutterwave Termii SMS & WhatsApp alerts REST API & single sign-on

Where it earns its place we add AI: drafting questions from your syllabus for a human examiner to approve, flagging near-duplicate items, scoring short free-text answers against a rubric for a marker to confirm, and surfacing unusual answer patterns. These assist your examiners, never replace the human decision on a result, and are priced separately.

Frequently Asked Questions

A CBT platform for a single test centre costs ₦300,000 to ₦2 million at Musskart. The lower end buys an offline-capable exam engine for one hall: item bank, randomised papers, server-held timing, auto-marking and result printing. Towards ₦2 million you add extra halls, biometric check-in, a candidate registration and payment portal and item analysis. For an exam body or multi-campus institution examining across several sites, budget ₦3 million to ₦15 million. Send your candidate numbers and hall count on WhatsApp for a fixed quote in Naira.

Yes, and for Nigerian conditions we recommend it. A local exam server sits inside your hall and every workstation talks to it over your LAN instead of the public internet. Papers are pre-loaded and encrypted, answers save locally after each question, and the sitting continues normally if your ISP drops; results and audit logs sync to the cloud dashboard afterwards. Because the timer is held on that server and not in the browser, a workstation that loses power resumes at the exact question with the remaining time preserved.

We layer several controls rather than relying on one. Identity is checked at the door by photo or fingerprint against the registration record. Every candidate gets a different paper through question and option randomisation from a much larger item bank, so copying from the next screen is useless. The exam runs full screen with copy, paste, printing and new tabs blocked, and exit attempts are flagged live to the invigilator. Remote sittings add webcam snapshots and a live proctor view, and everything is written to a tamper-evident audit log.

Yes. Recruiters and HR teams are among the heaviest users of the platform. You build a test from your own item bank, send candidates a link or access code by email or SMS, and let them sit it remotely with webcam proctoring or in a hired hall. Marking is automatic, so a shortlist exists the moment the window closes, with per-section scores and percentile ranking across the applicant pool. Results export to CSV or Excel, or push into your applicant tracking system through an API.

We build the software; accreditation is granted by the regulator, not by us. Accreditation of a CBT centre for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination is issued by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) against its own published facility, power, network, security and staffing requirements. Musskart is a software company, not an accrediting body, and cannot issue, guarantee or influence any accreditation. What we do is make the technology sound: a platform that runs on a local server without internet, LAN design, resumption after power loss and full audit logs.

A single-centre platform is normally live in 4 to 8 weeks, including a supervised pilot sitting with real candidates before you depend on it. An exam-body or multi-campus build takes 10 to 20 weeks because of item-bank migration, approval workflows, integrations and load testing at peak concurrency. You own the source code and the intellectual property outright on delivery, along with the database and the deployment. There is no per-candidate licence fee to Musskart and no lock-in, and a support retainer is entirely optional.
