Branded Games & Advergames in Nigeria
How Nigerian brands can reach players inside viral browser games — or commission a game of their own
For marketing teams, agencies and founders planning a campaign.
Brands Are Already Paying to Be Inside Nigerian Games
Within days of launch, Lagos Life — the browser life-sim that passed 4.3 million players in a week — was selling in-game advertising. Billboards inside the virtual city cost ₦5,000 a week, lagoon plots ₦18,000, and slots on the game's stats page climbed from ₦50,000 for a month to ₦100,000 for a week as demand grew.
Early buyers included Salary Index, Leadway Lifestyle Fair, MyDecorTrade and the music distributor ONErpm, and artists paid to have their songs placed in the game. One campaign recorded 3,686 taps from 9,826 opens, a 38% tap-through rate.
For marketers, that is the real story of the 2026 browser-game wave: millions of young Nigerians spending time in games that load from a link, and a new, cheap, measurable place to meet them. There are two ways in. (Musskart Technology is not affiliated with Lagos Life; figures are from the press coverage listed below.)

Option 1: Advertise Inside Someone Else's Game
Why it works
- Cheap to test — entry prices started at ₦5,000 a week
- Fast — a campaign can be live within days
- Native — your brand is part of the world, not a pop-up
What to watch
- No control over the game, its audience or its future
- Limited inventory, with prices that rise with demand
- Brand safety: live chat, adult audiences and copycat sites
- Limited data — you get taps, not customer relationships
Best for quick awareness tests, events, launches and music promotion. Make sure you are dealing with the official game, ask in advance which numbers you will receive, and keep the creative simple — a billboard in a game is read in a second.
Option 2: Commission Your Own Branded Game
A branded game, often called an advergame, is built around your brand, product or message: a danfo game where every bus wears your livery, a quiz that teaches your product, a runner where players collect your product to score. You own the audience relationship, the data (with consent) and the creative.
Campaign games
A casual game for a four- to eight-week campaign, with a leaderboard, weekly winners and share-to-unlock rewards.
Product-education games
A quiz or simulation that teaches how your product works — savings, insurance or a new app feature.
Loyalty & engagement games
Daily play that rewards existing customers, connected to your loyalty programme or app.
Event & activation games
Big-screen or QR-code games for concerts, stores and trade fairs, capturing leads on the spot.
Recruitment games
Graduate-trainee and employer-brand campaigns built around skills challenges.
Sponsored seasons
Your brand sponsors a season, a route or a set of power-ups inside an existing game.
What Makes a Branded Game Work
- A 30-second core loop. If it takes longer than that to understand, most players leave.
- Instant from a link. It should load from WhatsApp in a few seconds on mobile data — no app, no long sign-up before play.
- The brand is the world, not an interruption. Players remember the bus they drove, not the banner they closed.
- A reason to share. Friend leaderboards, challenge links and results worth posting.
- Prizes with clear rules. Who can win, how winners are chosen and when prizes are paid.
- Measurement from day one. Plays, unique players, shares, time spent and conversions, reported to your team.

Rules to Check Before You Launch in Nigeria
This is orientation, not legal advice. Confirm the position for your campaign with your legal team.
- Prize promotions. Games with prizes or draws can count as promotional competitions. Check whether you need approval from the National Lottery Regulatory Commission or a state authority such as the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority.
- Advertising approval. Campaign creative in Nigeria may need vetting by the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON).
- Personal data. If the game collects names, phone numbers or emails, the Nigeria Data Protection Act applies: a clear privacy notice, a lawful basis such as consent, and secure storage. See our NDPA compliance guide.
- Age. If your product or prizes are age-restricted, the game must be too. Lagos Life, for example, limits play to over-18s.
What a Branded Game Costs in Nigeria
| Scope | Typical price | Typical timeline |
|---|---|---|
| Simple branded game: one short game in your brand's look, with a leaderboard | ₦1.5M – ₦4M | 3–5 weeks |
| Custom campaign game: original concept, registration, weekly winners, reporting dashboard | ₦4M – ₦10M | 6–12 weeks |
| Multiplayer or long-running brand world: accounts, live events, integrations | ₦10M and above | Delivered in phases |
Add hosting for the campaign period and, where prizes are involved, the cost of approvals and prize fulfilment. Start at least two months before your campaign date if you also need approvals.
