Stop Losing Sales in the DMs

If you sell products in Nigeria today, you probably run the whole thing from Instagram, WhatsApp and a phone that never stops buzzing. It works — until it doesn't. Customers ask "how much?" on a post you replied to three weeks ago. Orders get lost between chats. You send account numbers by hand and chase transfers one screenshot at a time. Every sale needs you personally, awake, online and typing. You cannot scale a shop that lives inside your DMs.

An online store setup fixes that. A real e-commerce website shows every product with a clear price, lets the customer add to cart and pay in Naira at checkout with Paystack or Flutterwave, and drops the order straight into your dashboard — while you sleep, while you're on the road, while you're serving someone in your physical shop. This page explains exactly what we build, what it costs in Naira, how long it takes, and why we build on WooCommerce rather than Shopify for Nigerian sellers.

This is written by the engineering team at Musskart Technology Limited, a registered Nigerian software company that has delivered 250+ projects since 2020 — so the advice below is what we actually do for clients, not sales fluff.

Why Move Off Instagram & WhatsApp-Only Selling

DM selling is a great start, but a store you own does things a social profile never will:

Customers pay themselves

No more sending account numbers and confirming transfers by hand. The customer checks out and pays in Naira with card, bank transfer or USSD, and the order is recorded automatically.

You sell 24/7

Your store takes orders at 2am, on Sunday, during NEPA outages on your side. You are not the bottleneck anymore — the site does the selling and you fulfil.

You show up on Google

An Instagram post cannot rank on Google; a real store page can. People searching for what you sell can actually find you, which a social feed will never deliver.

You own your customers

The store keeps every customer's details and order history. If a platform bans your page tomorrow, your business and its list survive because they live on your own domain.

You keep Instagram and WhatsApp — they become the top of your funnel. The link in your bio finally points to a shop that closes the sale for you.

What's Included in Your Store

Every Musskart store, from Starter up, is a complete, working shop — not a half-built template. As standard you get:

Need something specific — subscriptions, bookings, a wholesale price tier, an existing logistics partner? That is what the Pro Store and our custom quote are for.

Why WooCommerce Beats Shopify for Nigerian Sellers

Shopify is a fine product — but it is built for the American and European market, and that shows the moment you try to run it from Nigeria. For the sellers we work with, WooCommerce (WordPress) wins on the three things that actually matter here.

1. Native Paystack & Flutterwave — real Naira payments

WooCommerce has proper, well-maintained Paystack and Flutterwave plugins. Your customers pay in Naira with the cards, transfers and USSD they already use, and the money settles to your Nigerian bank. Shopify pushes its own payment rails, bills you in dollars, and local gateway support is a constant workaround.

2. You own it — no rent, no per-sale fee

WooCommerce is free and open. It runs on your own hosting and domain, so the store is an asset you keep forever. Shopify is a monthly subscription in dollars, and depending on your plan and payment method it can take a cut of every sale. Over a year, that adds up to real money that stays in your pocket with WooCommerce.

3. Total control & local support

Because it is open, WooCommerce can be extended to do almost anything — POS sync, custom shipping, a wholesale portal — and any Nigerian developer can maintain it. You are never locked into one company's roadmap or pricing. Shopify only does what Shopify allows, and support means a ticket to another time zone.

The honest exception: if you specifically need Shopify for a reason (an existing team on it, a particular app), we will tell you plainly rather than sell you the wrong thing. For most Nigerian retailers moving off DM selling, WooCommerce is the better buy.

How We Build It — and How Long It Takes

The process is simple and you are involved at each step. Typical timelines: Starter in about 5–7 working days, Growth in about 2–3 weeks, Pro in about 3–5 weeks. The single biggest speed-up is having your product list and photos ready.

Step 1 — Quick chat & quote (day 0)

You message us on WhatsApp with what you sell and roughly how many products. We confirm the right tier, the price and the timeline. No long forms.

Step 2 — You send your content

Logo, product photos, descriptions and prices, plus your delivery areas. We can polish photos and write descriptions for you if you would rather — just ask.

Step 3 — We build your store

We set up hosting and your domain, design the store to match your brand, load your products, and wire up Paystack and Flutterwave on your own keys.

Step 4 — You review & we test payments

You see the store on a live link and tell us what to tweak. We run real test transactions to confirm money reaches your account cleanly before launch.

Step 5 — Launch & handover

We take the store live, hand you every login, and show you how to add products, run discounts and read orders yourself. The store is fully yours.

Step 6 — Ongoing care (optional)

Want us to keep it updated, backed up and secure? Our website care plan handles maintenance so you can focus on selling, not on WordPress updates.

Selling in a Shop Too? Sync Your Store to POS & Inventory

If you also sell over the counter, running your website stock and your shop stock as two separate lists is a recipe for overselling — customer pays online for the last item you already sold in-store this morning. The fix is POS and inventory sync, included in the Pro Store or available as an upgrade to any store.

We connect your online shop to a point-of-sale and inventory system so stock counts, prices and sales stay in step across both. Sell one online, the shop count drops; sell one in-store, the website count drops. One source of truth, no manual updates, no oversold orders. See exactly how it fits together on our custom POS software development page.

Store + POS, one connected system

Your website and your counter share the same stock, prices and sales in real time. No overselling, no double entry — just accurate numbers everywhere you sell.

Frequently Asked Questions

At Musskart, a real online store that takes Naira payments starts at ₦250,000 for the Starter Store — up to 30 products, Paystack and Flutterwave checkout and a mobile-responsive design. The Growth Store is from ₦500,000 with unlimited products, discount codes, delivery and shipping options and WhatsApp order alerts. The Pro Store is from ₦800,000 for custom features and POS or inventory sync. The one-off build fee covers the store itself; you pay your own hosting and domain separately, and the payment gateways take their standard per-transaction fee — Musskart charges no commission on your sales.

For most Nigerian sellers, WooCommerce wins. It has native, well-supported Paystack and Flutterwave plugins, so customers pay in Naira with cards, bank transfer and USSD without any workaround. You fully own the store and its data, and there is no per-sale platform fee eating your margin the way Shopify's plans and transaction charges can. Shopify is polished but bills in dollars, leans on its own payment rails that are awkward locally, and you rent the store forever. WooCommerce runs on your own hosting and domain, so the store is an asset you keep.

Yes — that is the whole point. Every store we build ships with Paystack and Flutterwave checkout configured on your own live keys, so customers pay in Naira by debit card, bank transfer, USSD and the other channels those gateways support. Money lands directly in your own Paystack or Flutterwave account and settles to your bank on their normal schedule. Musskart never sits between you and your money and takes no cut of your sales — you only pay the gateway's standard per-transaction fee.

A Starter Store is typically ready in about 5 to 7 working days once we have your logo, product photos, descriptions and prices. A Growth Store usually takes about 2 to 3 weeks because of the extra shipping, discount and order-alert setup. A Pro Store with custom features or POS and inventory sync runs from about 3 to 5 weeks depending on the integrations. The biggest thing that speeds a build up is having your product list and images ready — if you send them early, we launch sooner.

You own everything — the store, the design, the product data, the customer list and the code. It runs on your own domain and hosting under your own account, and we hand over every login at launch. There is no lock-in and no monthly rent to Musskart to keep the store online. If you ever want to move hosts or bring the work in-house, you can, because WooCommerce is open and the site is yours. We are happy to keep maintaining it for you, but that is your choice, not a requirement.

Yes. On the Pro Store, or as an upgrade to an existing store, we sync your online shop with a point-of-sale and inventory system so stock counts, prices and sales stay in step across your physical shop and your website. That stops you overselling items that are already gone and saves you updating two places by hand. If you sell both in a shop and online, this is usually the single most valuable upgrade — see our custom POS software development page for how the two fit together.
