Stop Guessing What Your Project Will Cost
Nearly every conversation we have with a new client in Nigeria starts the same way: "roughly, what will this cost?" — and nearly every agency answers with "it depends". That is technically true and completely useless when you are trying to decide whether to build at all, how much to raise, or which version of your idea you can afford this quarter.
So we built the thing we wished existed. The development cost calculator below asks you four short questions — what you are building, how big it is, which features it needs, and how polished it has to look — and gives you a live Naira range with a line-by-line breakdown of where the money goes. It runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is stored, no email is demanded, no form gate stands between you and the number.
The ranges are not invented. They are mapped to the tiers Musskart Technology Limited actually prices against: websites from ₦150,000, e-commerce stores from ₦250,000, mobile apps from ₦2.5M, MVPs from ₦2.5M and bespoke web software from ₦4M. We are a registered Nigerian software company headquartered in Asaba with an office in Abuja, and we have shipped over 250 projects since 2020, so the multipliers behind the calculator come from work we have delivered rather than a spreadsheet someone copied off an American blog.
Use it, then hit the green button to send your estimate straight to our team on WhatsApp. It arrives with your selections attached, so we can sanity-check it against a real scope instead of starting from zero.

How the Estimate Is Calculated
There is no black box here, so here is the arithmetic. The calculator starts from a base build cost for your project type — the floor price for a well-made version of that thing with a handful of pages or screens and nothing exotic bolted on. Everything after that is an addition to that base.
1. Base build for the project type
A business website starts at ₦150,000; an e-commerce store at ₦250,000; a mobile app covering both iOS and Android at ₦2.5M; an MVP at ₦2.5M; custom web software at ₦4M. Each base includes a set number of pages, screens or modules — five or six, depending on the type.
2. Size beyond what is included
Every page, screen or module past the included allowance adds a defined amount. On a website that is modest — tens of thousands of Naira per page. On a mobile app or a custom system it is far more, because a screen there is rarely just a screen: it is a design, an API endpoint, validation rules, error states, permissions and a test.
3. Features, priced relative to the platform
Each feature you tick adds a cost band, scaled to the platform you chose. Online payments on a brochure website is a checkout button and a webhook. The same words on a multi-vendor mobile app mean split settlements, refunds, reconciliation and a payout ledger. That is why the same checkbox contributes a much bigger number to an app than to a website.
4. Scale uplift
Expected user numbers apply a multiplier to the running subtotal. A system for a few hundred people can be simple. Past ten thousand users you are paying for caching, queues, database indexing strategy, load testing and infrastructure that does not fall over on your busiest day. Past a hundred thousand, architecture decisions dominate the cost.
5. Design and complexity multiplier
Finally the design level adjusts the total — down slightly for a clean template-led build, neutral for custom branded design, up for premium UI/UX with research and motion, and up substantially for enterprise-grade work carrying compliance requirements, audit trails and formal security review.
The result is clamped to the realistic ceiling for that project type, then rounded to sensible figures. If your selections push a website past ₦2M, the calculator caps it and quietly tells you that you have probably outgrown a website and are describing custom software — which is a genuinely useful thing to learn before you brief anyone.
What Actually Drives the Price
If you want to move your number down, these are the levers that matter. In our experience they explain the overwhelming majority of the difference between a ₦900,000 project and a ₦9M one.
Number of distinct screens
The single strongest predictor. Not "how many features" but how many separate views a human can navigate to, each needing design, build, data, empty states and testing. Cutting six low-value screens saves real money.
Whether money moves through it
Anything touching payments, wallets, payouts or refunds costs more, because it needs reconciliation, idempotency, audit logs and far harsher testing. Getting a payment flow 99% right is the same as getting it wrong.
How many user roles exist
One type of user is one experience. Customer plus vendor plus dispatch rider plus admin is four, each with its own permissions and screens. Roles multiply scope faster than almost anything else on a brief.
Third-party integrations
Every external system — a bank API, a logistics provider, an SMS gateway, an existing ERP — brings its own documentation quality, sandbox reliability and failure modes. Some take a day. Some take three weeks.
How custom the design is
A clean, conventional layout built on a proven design system is quick. Bespoke illustration, custom motion, a full research and prototyping cycle and pixel-level art direction are all worth paying for — but they are a real line item, not a freebie.
Expected load and uptime
An internal tool for thirty staff and a consumer platform expecting a hundred thousand users are different engineering problems even when the screens look identical. Scale is bought in advance, not retrofitted cheaply.
Regulatory and security requirements
Fintech, lending, health and education products carry compliance obligations, data-protection duties and security review. That work is invisible to users and unavoidable for anyone building responsibly.
How fast you need it
A compressed timeline means more engineers working in parallel, more coordination overhead and less reuse. Urgency is legitimate, and it is a cost multiplier rather than a discount.
The Real Musskart Price Tiers Behind the Calculator
These are the brackets the calculator maps to. Full details, inclusions and payment terms live on our pricing page.
Business Website
₦150,000 – ₦2M
Company and brochure sites, landing pages, portfolios and content sites. Responsive, fast, search-ready and yours to own.
E-commerce Store
₦250,000 – ₦2.5M
Catalogue, cart, Nigerian payment gateways, order management and delivery options — from a small shop to a large catalogue.
Mobile App
₦2.5M – ₦30M
Flutter or React Native, one codebase shipping to both the App Store and Google Play, with the backend and admin behind it.
Custom Web Software
₦4M – ₦50M
ERP, hospital and school systems, SaaS platforms, marketplaces and internal tools built around your exact business rules rather than a template.
MVP
₦2.5M – ₦6M
The lean first version that proves demand. One core workflow, done properly, launched in weeks rather than quarters. See MVP costs.

What Every Musskart Estimate Includes
Whatever number the calculator gives you, the same things sit inside it. We do not quote a low headline figure and then bill separately for the work that makes software actually usable.
You own the source code, the repository, the design files and every account we create for you. There is no licence to keep renewing and no lock-in that forces you back to us. If you later want another team to take over, everything transfers cleanly — that is the point of owning your software.
What the Estimate Does Not Cover
Being honest about exclusions is how you avoid arguments at invoice time. These sit outside the build price and are itemised separately in every written quote:
Running costs
Hosting, domain renewals, SSL where it is not free, third-party subscriptions, API usage fees, and SMS or email credits. These are ongoing costs you pay to the providers directly, and we help you size them before launch.
Platform and gateway fees
Apple's annual developer fee, Google Play's one-off registration, and the percentage every payment gateway takes on each transaction. Nobody can waive these — budget for them from the start.
Content production
Professional photography, video, long-form copywriting and logo design from scratch. We can arrange any of it, and we will quote it plainly rather than folding it invisibly into the build.
Ongoing maintenance
After the warranty period, updates, monitoring, backups and small changes are covered by a monthly care plan. Software that is never maintained slowly rots — plan for it rather than being surprised by it.
How to Read Your Range
The two ends of your estimate are not "the honest price" and "the padded price". They describe two genuinely different versions of the same idea.
The low end
A disciplined build. Conventional design patterns, the shortest path through each workflow, standard integrations, and features scoped tightly to what a user must be able to do. This is usually the right choice for a first launch — you learn from real users before spending on refinement.
The high end
The fully loaded version. Deeper design work, edge cases handled generously, richer admin tooling, heavier automated testing, and architecture built for the scale you hope to reach rather than the one you have today. Right when you already have proven demand or a hard compliance obligation.
Our honest advice to most Nigerian founders: build near the low end first, get it in front of real users, then spend the difference on the features your users actually asked for. That sequence has produced far better outcomes across our 250+ projects than trying to launch the complete vision in one expensive attempt.
From Estimate to Signed Quote
The calculator gets you a number in a minute. Turning it into a commitment takes a short, structured process:
Step 1 — Send it on WhatsApp
Tap the green button in the calculator. Your project type, size, features and range come with the message, so we are not starting from a blank page. We reply within minutes during working hours.
Step 2 — A 20-minute scoping call
We ask the questions that actually move the price: who uses this, what must it do on day one, what can wait, and what already exists that we need to connect to. Phone, WhatsApp or video — whatever suits you.
Step 3 — Written scope and fixed price
You receive a document listing every screen, every user role and every integration, with a fixed price, a milestone payment schedule and a delivery timeline. No hourly surprises.
Step 4 — Build in visible milestones
You see working software at each milestone rather than a demo at the end. Payments are tied to those milestones, so you always pay for delivery that has already happened.
Step 5 — Launch, handover and support
We deploy, submit to the app stores where relevant, train your team, hand over the source code and accounts, and stay on for the warranty period. After that, a care plan is optional.
Clients across Abuja, Lagos, Port Harcourt and the rest of Nigeria work with us remotely as standard, and our team travels for on-site workshops and launch support where a project needs it. Our headquarters is at 93B Ibusa Road, Umuonaje, Asaba, and we also keep an office in Abuja.
